Fridays and Saturdays the favoured days for partying and posing tough questions

Friday, 29 October 2010

Friday is the best day of the week to pose those vital questions, such as badgering the boss for a pay rise or asking your partner if you can go on holiday with the lads (or lasses!), a survey by online insurer swiftcover.com has found.

Research amongst 1,000 Brits found:
• 58% of all respondents said that Friday was the best day to ask for a pay rise
• 32% said Friday was the best day to propose a holiday away with the guys or girls

Surprisingly women were slightly more confident about asking the ‘holiday’ question than men were – 34% said they thought Friday was the best day to pitch the question, compared with 30% of blokes. Conversely, Tuesdays were found to be the worst day for this type of discussion, favoured by only 5% of those surveyed.

Research also found:
• 38% of people said Saturday night is their favourite party night, with Friday night close behind, as chosen by 35% of people. For men there was not such a stark preference between a Friday and Saturday night, with 36% and 37% respectively. For women there was a clear winner with 39% opting for a Saturday night.
• 45% of people rate Sunday afternoons as their favourite time for relaxing

Tina Shortle, Marketing Director for swiftcover.com said: “The weekend is the time when most Brits choose to go and ‘get a life’, whether it’s for partying, relaxing or plucking up enough courage to ask their partner’s permission to go on holiday with the boys or the girls.

“swiftcover.com is keen to help people waste no time in planning their weekends. Our new Get A Life social media campaign gives lots of ideas for things to do, whether it’s sky diving or driving around a race track in a sports car, or discovering the freshest festival or cultural experiences.”
