One-Millionth Customer Saves Money with swiftcover.com -Twice!

Thursday, 18 June 2009

Melonie Galvin had been bemoaning the fact that, like so many other motorists, the renewal of her car insurance had coincided with her annual road tax renewal and other motoring costs.

In Melonie's own words, her car was "costing me every spare penny!" This was compounded by the fact that her existing insurer had quoted her a renewal price of £340. "That was rubbish!" Melonie states, "particularly as my mileage had gone down because I wasn't using the car as much for commuting to work. So I wasn't happy with my current provider."

A busy civil servant living in Tenby, Wales, but often travelling to London for work, 41-year-old Melonie decided it was time to shop around for a better price, and as time was a premium she focussed her search online.

She was delighted to find that swiftcover.com would insure her three-year old Skoda Fabia VRS for £197, an immediate saving of over £140. "I always like to do things fairly speedily," she explains, "so shopping online for car insurance quotes is ideal for me. swiftcover.com came up with a good price, the cover was good and it was a name I recognised."

Melonie quickly completed her transaction, believing that she would not have to think about her car insurance again for another year. That was until she was contacted a short while later by Tina Shortle, swiftcover.com's marketing director, to be told she was the insurer's millionth customer and to celebrate she would be getting her insurance for free.

"I didn't believe Tina at first when she rang to tell me I was the millionth customer," Melonie admits. "I was waiting for the catch; what else would I need to buy to qualify! But then the confirmation e-mail came through and I was thrilled! You always hear about other people winning things, but I never win anything."

Tina Shortle says that it is apt that swiftcover.com's millionth customer had chosen the insurer because it gave her real savings, reinforcing the objective swiftcover.com set out with when it began in 2005 - to save people money on their insurance.

Tina says: "One million customers is of course a major milestone for swiftcover.com, but it is one that we have reached in record time making us not only the UK's cheapest car insurer but also the country's fastest growing.

"I'm delighted that Melonie is our one millionth customer, but I am particularly delighted that we have been able to celebrate that achievement by saving her money twice!"
