swiftcover.com invites Westfield shoppers to UK first
Wednesday, 12 October 2011
Westfield Shopping Centre is usually sound tracked by the deep rumble of rush hour traffic on the A12 and the slow heave of some one million shoppers. However, on Wednesday 12th October 2011, visitors to Westfield Shopping Centre, one of London’s busiest retail areas, will be able to break free of the gridlock and jump straight into the fast lane, thanks to a gaming experience provided by online car insurance provider, swiftcover.com.
Imagine if every billboard was an enormous screen, waiting to offer you a gaming experience of truly epic scale. This is exactly what the online insurance provider - in conjunction with Screach - has created, transforming a 72-sheet billboard into the UK’s largest, live interactive gaming screen. Turning your smartphone into a video game controller, up to ten gamers at any one time will take to the wheel of a motion controlled car.
The ‘60 second challenge’ driving game will be shown on the biggest gaming screen ever created in the capital, giving gamers a chance to win prizes and gifts throughout the day.
Amanda Edwards, senior marketing manager at swiftcover.com, said: “It’s a very exciting project for us as we’re always striving to do something slightly different to the norm, and this certainly fits the bill. We’ve been active in digital outdoor for some time but it’s the first time we’ve introduced gaming interactivity to our marketing activity. Being able to connect the game with people’s facebook pages gives it a personal touch so they’ll be able to share their driving successes with their friends and family.”
Paul Rawlings, CEO of Screenreach Interactive, creators of the experience, said: “swiftcover.com is using Screach to deliver something truly innovative to its consumers. They are giving consumers that added incentive to interact by delivering rewards through the app and adding a social element.”
You’ll be able to interact with the on-screen driving game by downloading Screach to your smart device and entering the unique code shown on the screen. Then you can join the competition as shoppers will compete to see their name up in lights. The app also connects with Facebook, placing your profile photo on the screen and comparing times so a victory on the course will truly leave you towering above your friends.
