Aimed at the youth market, with its sporty looks and ability to tackle green lanes, the HRV is a good-looking car and one of the first of those from Honda. Not all models have four-wheel drive but all offer adequate performance, a fine ride and a high driving position which will be popular for school runs. The HRV is also built well and should be a loyal tool as most Hondas are. The rear seats split and fold flat to add space to the boot, but legroom is not generous in the rear. Nissan's X-Trail is also well worth a look, though more pricey.
