This summary gives details of the cover provided under Section M which you may have selected. Type of Insurance and Cover
The policy entitles you to repair or replacement of your electronic equipment, once all relevant paperwork has been received and extends to cover up to 90 days whilst you are abroad. Your electronic equipment is insured, when in the vehicle you stated on your insurance document with Swiftcover, up to a maximum sum of £500 and is insured for the following:

A. Accidental Damage

What we will cover:

We will pay for repair or replacement costs if your electronic equipment is damaged as the result of an accident whilst the electronic equipment is in your vehicle.

B. Theft

What we will cover;

If your electronic equipment is stolen from your vehicle, we will replace it. Where only part or parts of your electronic equipment have been stolen from your vehicle, we will only replace that part or parts.

Significant or Unusual Exclusions or Limitations

We will not pay:

  • More than £500 per claim for loss or damage to your electronic equipment.
  • The first £25 of each theft or accidental damage claim;
  • For theft from the Car if you or someone acting on your behalf was not in the car at the time of the theft unless the electronic equipment had been concealed in a locked boot or compartment and the car’s windows and doors had been closed and locked and all security systems activated;
  • If the car is a convertible or soft top, and the roof did not cover the Car and/ or was not secured in place;
  • This insurance only covers electronic equipment bought and used in the UK, the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands. Cover is extended to include use of the electronic equipment anywhere in the world up to a maximum of 90 days in total, in any single 12 month period, subject to any repairs being carried out in the UK by repairers approved by Us;
  • The electronic equipment must be less than 24 months old with a valid proof of purchase (not from online auctions) when the policy is started. The proof of purchase must be in your name or that of an immediate family member;
  • You must provide Us with any receipts, documents or proof of purchase, that it is reasonable for Us to request.
  • You must report the theft of any electronic equipment to the Police within 24 hours of discovery and obtain a crime reference number in support of a theft claim.

Duration

This is an option relating to a policy that is annually renewable.

Cancellation period

Although our regulator requires us to provide a minimum cancellation period of 14 days we will allow you to cancel your policy at any time. Different conditions apply depending on when you exercise your right to cancel your policy. A full explanation can be found in your policy wording under the section entitled Cancellation.

Making Yourself Heard

Any complaint you may have should in the first instance be addressed to Swiftcover, please email help@swiftcover.com or call on 0870 484 0100. If you are not satisfied with the way in which your complaint has been dealt with, you should follow the complaints procedure outlined within the Policy Wording.

If the complaint is still not resolved, you can approach The Financial Ombudsman Service. Referral to the Financial Ombudsman will not affect your right to take legal action.

Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS)

We are covered by the FSCS, which is triggered when an authorised firm goes out of business. In this unlikely event you may be entitled to compensation from the scheme. Compensation under the scheme for:

  • Compulsory insurance is covered in full
  • Non-compulsory insurance is protected in full for the first £2,000 and 90% of any amount above this threshold.
