Some of the most dangerous roads in the UK have been highlighted as part of a new survey, something that might be of interest
to those with car insurance.
And the Road Safety
Foundation found that a stretch of the A537 is Cheshire is the worst in terms of accidents, with 43 serious incidents having
been seen there since 2001, reports the BBC.
Yet when accidents involving motor bikes are not included, then the
A61 between Wakefield and Barnsley comes out first, the report said.
Dr Joanne Hill from the outfit claimed that
with more adequate planning, a number of the problems witnessed may be reduced.
"Poor road design and inadequate
safety measures on the majority of the roads in the list are responsible for a high proportion of the fatal or serious collisions
each year," she commented.
Both main roads and motorways were considered to be more dangerous for users that
other highways, the publication noted, while those in the north are deemed worse in terms of concentration.
Changes
to a road - the A66 - in the north-east have been welcomed by campaigners following the high number of crashes seen there
in the past.
