Travel insurance: Crunch 'will not harm holiday prospects'

People will still try their hardest to go on a summer holiday despite the harsher financial climate, it has been suggested, comments that may be useful to those searching for travel insurance.

The Association of British Travel Agents stated that such trips away are a "necessity" for Britons and therefore they do not want to sacrifice them.

Individuals will "cut back" in other areas because they cherish journeys to faraway places, asserted spokesperson Sean Tipton, with the conditions even prompting travellers to spring into action.

"Can you imagine if you had to explain to your young children that they weren't going away on holiday this year? You really have to be in extreme financial difficulties to contemplate that," he commented.

He added that foreign holidays are vitally important, especially now, so that families can have some kind of respite from the normal routine.

The World Tourism Organisation has stated that in the opening four months of 2008, international tourism increased by five per cent.
