Residents in one area of Gloucestershire have begun an initiative to try and stop speeding motorists there, a campaign that
might lead to fewercar insurance claims.
People from Gloucester Row in Wotton-under-Edge said that because the street does not have a pavement, youngsters are
more vulnerable to dangerous driving, reports the Gloucestershire Gazette.
Speaking for the locals, Nick Stanton told the publication that the area has become very congested in recent times and
that on many occasions there have been "near misses" as cars have had to beep pedestrians.
"The trouble is that as we have not had any fatalities the police and Highways Agency say they cannot do anything
for us," he commented.
He added that after a police test it was found many of the motorists passing through the road hit speeds of 38mph - which
is more than the legal limit.
The Neighbourhood Policing Team in Leeds recently stated that it is to link up with locals in the area to try and cut
down on accidents.
