Motor insurance: Kids given road hints
Youngsters in one area of Derbyshire have been taught about road safety using a number of special props, in news that may concern those with motor insurance.
Police enlisted the help of Jumicar at Granby Junior School, which brought with it some small vehicles that could be operated by children as if they were the real thing, reports the Illkeston Advertiser.
Director of Jumicar in the UK Janet Ashwork said that a number of positives are likely to come out of the move.
She told the publication: "During the session they'll gain road awareness skills, learn the importance of obeying safety rules and become aware of the various hazards presented by being in a vehicle or on the roadside."
Cotmanhay Safer Neighbourhood Team's PC Martin Booth added that this is a very "important" issue and that kids will be outside for longer in the summer months.
A petition was recently started in Wigan by drivers looking to improve Kitt Green Road, Wigan Today reported.
