Motor insurance: Speeding driver caught despite campaign
Police have said that one driver was caught travelling at high above the speed limit even though a road safety drive had taken place in County Durham, news that may interest those with motor insurance.
Special measures were put in place on the A66 in Durham to try to limit the number of accidents for those attending the Appleby Horse Fair that took place recently, reports the Northern Echo.
Road safety officials and police helped to start the move after a number of incidents were seen in recent times.
Durham police's Sergeant Phil Hill said that despite the instance of the car driving at 124 mph, there were no major crashes.
"We are delighted that there were no incidents on the roads involving horse-drawn vehicles. In terms of road casualties, the horse fair was very uneventful, which is exactly what we hoped for," he told the publication.
Police in Scotland this week revealed that the number of people speeding close to the site of the Rock Ness festival was down this year compared to last.
