Motor insurance: London 'most popular' for car crime
In news that could see people make more motor insuranceclaims, swiftcover.com has released a list of the areas in which cars are most likely to be broken into or stolen.
The organisation said that drivers with a Ford Fiesta will be targeted more often by car thieves, while people with a Volkswagen Golf came in second place.
Moreover, motorists in the London area may well be affected more by vehicle crime and car item theft than anywhere else, it said.
Claims director at the company Robin Reames noted that some individuals still do not follow simple safety instructions, which could prevent them from losing a lot of money.
"It's amazing how many people leave their keys in the ignition whilst defrosting the car, or pop into the post office leaving their car windows open. It's just an open invitation to opportunistic thieves," he commented.
Recently, CCTV cameras were installed on a street in Oxford in an attempt by the police to lower car crime there.
