Almost £700,000 has been paid out in fines by speeding motorists in Sefton, according to new figures.

Visiter put in a Freedom of Information request and found that this is the figure gleaned by the Merseyside Road Safety Partnership
in the last five years.
And the website of Sefton council stated that such speed devices are placed at spots were
there has been a track record of incidents.
"New cameras are only located where there have been four or more
killed or seriously injured casualties within the previous three-year period," it said.
Project manager at Merseyside
Road Safety Partnership Dave Faulkes stated that the number of fines have risen because of changes implemented.
"The
cameras on the sites are the same but they weren't being used to their full capability," he told the news source.
It
was recently claimed by Motorists Against Detention that new average speed cameras will have a negative affect.
