Car insurance: Scheme 'a success'
A road safety initiative in Cheshire has been an undoubted success, according to officers who helped set it up.
Local police said that the Traffic Impact Days scheme has allowed motorists to see the consequences of poor driving and is a good alternative to fines for erratic behaviour, reports the Crewe Chronicle.
Ian West, Congtleton and Macclesfield Fire Station watch manager, told the publication that once drivers could see the results of bad behaviour, their eyes were opened to the problem.
He commented: "The approach of explaining what could happen to them certainly made them take notice of the possible consequences of their actions."
The official added that a "momentary" lack of concentration can result in an accident and that the campaign has seen some terrible instances of this.
Another campaign was recently launched by Lincolnshire Road Safety Partnership - called 2fast2soon - as an attempt to highlight dangerous driving to youngsters.
Drivers caught breaking the law may find that their car insurance premiums are negatively impacted upon.
