How can travel insurance help while you’re on holiday?
Tuesday, 20 April 2010
With the start of the warmer weather, many people will be thinking about planning
their next holiday and looking forward to some time to relax. But when you are booking
your holiday don’t forget about travel insurance.
If you are taken ill or injured on holiday your medical bills can be very expensive
which can be a worry for some holiday makers. An air ambulance to take you home
from mainland Europe could cost up to £20,000 and just one night in a Spanish or
Turkish Hospital ward (excluding treatment) could cost up to £600. Investing in
travel insurance will help
set your mind at rest.
How exactly does it help?
Before you travel:
If you become unwell or injured before you travel and cannot go on holiday, we will
reimburse you the cost of the trip so you can rebook when you are feeling better.
Whilst travelling:
If you fall ill or become injured whilst you are away, it is reassuring to know
that swiftcover.com will cover you for up to £10,000,000 in medical expenses, we
can:
Arrange and pay for all necessary medical treatment overseas
Organise alternative flights or transport
Arrange accommodation if necessary
If you are travelling in Europe it is also worth carrying a European Health Insurance
Card (EHIC). Although it’s not an alternative to travel insurance, an EHIC allows
you to access free or reduced cost healthcare in EU countries. If you use an EHIC
you won’t have to pay the excess on your policy.
