Optional Extras
Swiftcover has automatically included all the most important features of home insurance in your basic policy. On top of that you can choose any additional cover you need from the wide range of optional extras to design a home insurance policy that works for you.
Accidental Damage
Swiftcover's basic policy covers your home for loss or damage caused by the main risks like fire and flood, but sometimes things get broken accidentally – a tap that's been left running could cause thousands of pounds worth of damage to flooring and furniture.
Accidental damage for buildings provides up to £1million of cover for broken windows,
sinks, bathroom fittings, underground pipes and cables and water damage caused by
a tap left running.
Accidental damage for contents provides up to £75,000 of cover for broken mirrors, entertainment equipment, and water damage caused by a tap left running.
Buildings insurance, Contents insurance and Buildings & Contents insurance can all
be extended to include cover for accidental damage.
Personal Possessions
Every day items that you carry with you - like jewellery, mobile phones and laptops – are easily lost or broken, and expensive to replace. Personal Possessions cover extends your home contents insurance to cover your belongings outside of the home and anywhere in the world. Choose the level of cover that works for you, up to £15,000.
Personal Possessions cover can be added to Contents insurance and Buildings & Contents insurance
Home Assistance
Blocked drains, burst pipes, broken boiler – when you have an emergency at home, you
can't afford to waste any time getting it repaired. Call our domestic helpline
any minute of any day and we'll arrange for an approved contractor to sort out
the problem as quickly as possible. What's more, Home Assistance covers you
for up to £1,000 of call out fees, parts and labour. You know there's
no need to worry when you can call on our specialist support 24/7.
Garden Cover
Surprisingly, the value of your garden contents can add up to as much as some of your indoor rooms. Garden Cover provides up to £2,000 of cover for loss or damage to things like fences, plants, trampolines and garden furniture caused by a range of risks including storm, theft and falling trees.
Garden Cover can be added to Contents insurance and Buildings & Contents insurance.
Student Cover
According to the Home Office, students own more expensive consumer goods per head than the rest of the population, and 1 in 3 becomes the victim of a crime each year.
Student Cover provides up to £5,000 of cover per student and covers belongings against risks including theft, malicious acts, storm or flood, while your family are away at college, university or boarding school.
Student Cover can be added to Contents insurance and Buildings & Contents insurance
Bicycle Cover
If you use a bike for commuting or on holiday you'll be aware that high value bikes are targeted by thieves. Bicycle Cover provides up to £500 of cover for each bicycle and up to £2,500 in total and protects your bike/s and accessories against loss or damage away from home.
Bicycle cover can be added to Contents insurance and Buildings & Contents insurance
Family Legal Protection
Unfortunately, despite our best efforts some situations can not be resolved amicably and legal action is the only remedy available to us – the supply of faulty goods or services, injury to you or your immediate family, problems with neighbours or employment disputes. Bringing about a legal claim requires expert assistance and can be very expensive with the costs not always recoverable from the other side, even if you win.
Family Legal Protection provides up to £50,000 of cover for taking civil action:
- personal injury
- breach of contract for goods or services (e.g. faulty goods or services)
- damage or trespassing on your property
- employment (e.g. dispute when returning to work after maternity leave)
You'll also get access to a free 24-hour legal helpline and discounted uninsured legal products such as will writing and conveyancing services.
Family legal protection can be added to Buildings and Contents insurance
Identity Theft Cover
In the wrong hands, your personal information could be used by someone else to claim
benefits, set up a bank account, or get credit, a loan, even a passport in your
name.
Identity Theft Cover provides up to £50,000 of cover for legal fees and
expenses plus expert help with resolving problems like restoring your credit
rating and removing any judgements wrongly entered against you.
