What is legal cover?

When you add legal cover to your car insurance, we’ll cover legal costs related to your claim. So, if you need to hire a solicitor to recover costs from the other person in an accident, we’ll have you covered. With Swiftcover legal cover, you’ll be covered for up to £100,000 in legal fees. If you have any uninsured losses, we’ll help you recover them from the person at fault.

What’s included with car insurance legal cover?

If you’ve made a claim and you weren’t at fault, legal cover can help you recover losses.

  • The excess you’ve paid on your policy for making a claim
  • Loss of earnings if you’re unable to work
  • Alternative transport costs
  • Medical expenses if you or your passengers are injured during an accident
  • Any further costs to your car if you don’t have comprehensive car insurance

Do I need legal cover?

Legal cover isn’t required by law. But if you choose to add it, you’ll have more protection from unexpected costs if you have an accident.

Swiftcover offer legal cover as an optional extra on your policy. You can add it when you buy a policy with us, or in your Swift Space online account any time.
