How does Legal expenses cover work?
If you need advice, you can get in touch with a 24-hour legal helpline. The advisors can help you with a range of personal legal issues and, if your claim is something that is covered, you’ll be appointed a legal representative to handle your case. If you get in touch about an issue which isn’t insured, you’ll be provided with other legal services at a discounted price.
Do I need Legal expenses cover?
We provide Legal expenses cover as an optional extra for Swiftcover customers. However, lawyers can be expensive, should you need one. Having Legal expenses cover means you won’t have to worry about the unexpected cost of a legal case and you won't pay an excess if you need to use your cover.
What does Legal expenses cover?
You are covered if you make a claim, or if any of the following happens:
- You want to make a claim against someone for giving you defective goods or services.
- Someone you have sold goods to privately tries to make a claim against you.
- If you’ve been injured and another party is responsible.
- To make a claim for damages against another party that’s responsible for clinical negligence, resulting in injury or death.
- To seek legal action against someone who has caused physical damage to your home.
- To seek legal action against a breach of contract for the sale or purchase of your main home.
- To seek legal action against another party for breach of data protection laws.
If you have a Swiftcover Plus Home policy, Legal expenses cover is included in your policy as standard.
Can I use my own legal advisor?
Yes, but we’ll only be able to cover the cost if they can represent you within our conditions.
