What is student cover?

Students living in student accommodation may not have much control over the security of where they live, or who they live with. With student cover, you can make sure they’re protected even if you're not physically there. It's the peace of mind you need while your children are away from home.

Student cover is an optional extra you can include with your contents cover. Without it, your policy won’t cover your child's possessions while they’re in student accommodation.

What's covered by student cover?

Student cover will protect your child’s property from:

  • Theft or attempted theft
  • Damage caused on purpose by others
  • Damage caused by vehicles, aircrafts or animals
  • Storm or flood
  • Falling trees
  • Fire, explosion, lightning, or earthquake

What isn't covered?

Loss or damage that isn’t covered:

  • Cover outside of the UK, the Isle of Man, or the Channel Islands
  • Loss or damage from a caravan, mobile home, or motor home
  • Business equipment
  • Accidental damage, unless you have personal possessions cover with your policy
  • Loss or damage to items outside of student accommodation.
  • Bikes worth more than £350, or multiple bikes with more than £1,500.

Property is covered for up to £5,000 of damages, per student, for each claim.
